Volkswagen is a German automobile manufacturer headquarters in Wolfsburg, Lower Saxony Germany. Founded in 1937 by German Labor Front under the Nazi Party. Following World War II, Volkswagen experienced a resurgence, transforming into a recognized brand. Volkswagen is the biggest of Germany’s car makers and one of the country’s largest employers, with more than 270,000 jobs inside the home country. On the other hand China is the biggest market of Volkswagen cars.
The word Volkswagen means “People’s Car” in German. Now a days it is known as Volkswagen Beetle. Its appeal lies in both its affordability and reliability .The choice of the car’s name is a deliberate marketing tactic. The notable strength of Volkswagen cars lies in their straightforward and classic design, contributing to their enduring popularity.
Initially, Volkswagen exclusively produced the Volkswagen Beetle, affectionately nicknamed the “Bug”. In 1950, the type 2 was introduced, also a engine positioned at the rear of the vehicle. The Beetle subsequently achieved remarkable success, evolving into one of the best-selling cars in history. Production continued for many years in factories located in Germany, Brazil and Mexico.
The Volkswagen Group encompasses several brands from European countries, including Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, SKODA, SEAT ,CUPRA Audi, Lamborghini, Bentley, Porsche and Ducati. Additionally the Volkswagen brand manufacturers a diverse range of models, catering to both global and regional markets, with a particular emphasis on Europe, China and Latin America. According to the 2022 annual report, the best selling model under the Volkswagen brand globally was Tiguan. In response to various forms of pollution, the company is currently prioritizing the development of electric and hybrid engines. Volkswagen is owned and operated by Volkswagen AG.
